About the Book

From the first meeting in 1932, ten train enthusiast met and form a club where they could display and run their scale model locomotives. Queensland Society of Model & Experimental Engineers, Pine Valley Railway, has evolved over the years to an exciting venue where visitors can bring their children to enjoy the wildlife, the landscaped railway track and ride on the steam and electric locomotives built by club members. About the Author

Dorothy Hartnett was born in Tasmania where she began her varied, adventurous career. Her first job was designing houses in an architect’s office as she had experience as a tiny offside to her builder father from quite young. She ventured from modelling to veterinary nurse to private secretary and P.R. situations to several successful commercial business ventures. Later as a sole parent she travelled widely introducing her young family to other cultures in the world. (We Three Go to Sea). 1976-1980 Dorothy studied at Seven Hills College of Art and discovered sculpture. After obtaining her Arts Degree she taught Art and English in secondary private schools in Queensland for 8 years and had many solo exhibitions in painting and sculpture. Dorothy progressed from wood, stone and bronze to glass sculpture and in 1989 worked at her own commercial Art glass “Pangeza Studio” where she created unusual glassworks and large commissions.. In 1994 Dorothy’s first book, The Blossoms of Rose Cottage” was published, followed by “Forms Entwined, The life story of sculptors Kathleen & Leonard Shillam” in 1996. In 1999 Dorothy bought a video camera and she has been making short films from her stories and travel documentaries eversince. A few can be viewed on her UTube site.
