The Wishing Star

About the Book

This story is about a boy named Sam who likes to spend summer with his grandfather in a beautiful country place. Together, they do many interesting things, such as fishing, hiking, camping, and picking berries. Sam’s grandfather is a ranger, but he is also the best storyteller in the world. One day, he tells his grandson a story about a star that changed his life.

The Wishing Star may appeal to parents who are trying to teach their children about the importance of our nature. I believe this story can be a useful lesson for young readers (5–9 years old) written in simple way and making them think about our nature and everything that surrounds us.

The book displayed expressive language, which helped stimulate the reader’s imagination. I also liked the positive message behind the story (i.e. respecting the environment). About the Author

Amelia Samoylov lives with her parents and brother in the seaside community Sea Gate, which is located in Brooklyn, New York. At age of seven, Amelia visited an exhibition where she got inspired by creativity of young artists. Since then, she has always spent some time sketching and drawing things that surrounded her. In her free time, she likes to draw, play the piano and read books. Amelia prefers science-fi ction and historical literature and even has her own book collection at home. She believes that reading plays a very important role in her life. It also improves her imagination and teaches her how to see and understand the world. Most of all, Amelia likes to spend time with her family. “The process of making this book made me realize that I really want to write and draw more books,” said Amelia.
