About the Book

The author’s objective is to capture these steps and unusual musical counts in written “Dance Notes” format, going to great lengths to “break down the steps” and “insure the dancer has WEIGHT on the correct foot”, etc, to accomplish a faithful execution of some tricky foot work complicated by some unusual musical dance counts. A corollary objective is to “set the record straight”, dispelling ALL variations. The completion of this book was a labor of love, dedicated by the author to his late mother, Gertrude LeBlanc Foreman, a pioneer of the dance industry in southwest Louisiana (Acadiana) who taught dance for over 50 years and fueled my passion to dance.

About the Author

In his 66 year life span, Russell p. Foreman, Jr. has been involved with the dance industry for over 61 years as either a student, performer or choreographer, and most recently a student of master tap teacher, performer, and choreographer “buster cooper” of Dallas, Texas. Dubbed “happy feet” while performing in Louisiana, this affectionate moniker remains to this day. Russ attributes his passion for anything “dance” to his mother who was a pioneer “dance teacher” in southwest Louisiana. Exceedingly thankful for the dance talent god has bestowed on him, Russ is doubly grateful to god for delivering him beyond “two strokes”, enabling completion of this work. Dancers, enjoy!
