About the Author

Norman Stokle climbed onto the stage at the age of four and has remained there more or less ever since. After specializing in French Theater during his college years and performing in numerous plays from Moliere and Shakespeare to Beckett and Ostrovsky, he studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and later acquired a Ph.D at Syracuse University with a dissertation on Camus’ life in the theater. He spent most of his career in American academia and in Paris where he directed Skidmore College’s Junior Year Abroad programs while working as an actor in French television, cinema, and on-stage with Dear Conjunction, the English language theater of Paris. He is the author of numerous books and articles. His most recent publications include a co-authored novel, Cheeseburgers in the Rose Room, Plays for the Sinful, and several screenplays, most notably The Florentines (a TV miniseries) and The Siege of Saint Michel (a full-feature movie).
