A pair of tiny arms wrapped themselves around her waist, ‘guess who?’ it whispered gruffly. Mum reached behind her back, almost groping around like a blind man, as she mockingly attempted to find out. Those tiny hands squeezed tighter, as the person it belonged to, bobbed and weaved out of reach. ‘Could this be none other than my very gorgeous, my very dashing little young man, come a‘calling?’ mum sighed dramatically. Rayden sidestepped around her and bowed, ‘at your service, ma’am’, he giggled. He loved the way his mum play-acted with him. ‘So what were you smiling about?’ he questioned curiously. ‘Was I smiling?’ mum retorted, as she felt her face. ‘Yep, I do believe that’s a smile. Nothing much really’, she mumbled, turning away from him. Rayden was about to quiz her some more, when in stomped Rayann. ‘You left the tap running again, you silly little boy, It seems like I have to constantly check up on you. It sucks to be the older sister. Isn’t that so mum?’ she asked. Shifting her gaze from the one to the other; ‘ what now?’ she sighed as she plonked herself on the kitchen stool. Reaching for an apple, which sat in the fruit bowl, she bit into it; loudly. Rayden shook his head at her in disgust. ‘What?’ muttered Rayann, in-between mouthfuls. ‘Softly. Why can’t you chew softly? Never mind, don’t answer that. Mum has a secret, and she’s not telling’. ‘Really’, mumbled Rayann, as she looked over to her mum, who had her head stuck in the fridge, in an attempt to avoid them. ‘ I guess that’s why it’s called a secret; so she doesn’t have to tell you’, she replied smugly. ‘So what’s the secret, mum’, she yelled over to her mum. ‘You’re taking awfully long, trying to find, whatever it is, you’re looking for,’ she mumbled, as she continued to munch away on her apple. ‘You think mum is trying to cool down?’ whispered Rayden from behind his hand, in an attempt for mum not to hear him.

Rayann (Annie) and Rayden Moodley are two incorrigible little children that are always getting themselves into some sort of adventure. About the Author
Roseann Ezra is passionate about serving the Lord through every aspect of her life. Though recently divorced, she has been in the family business for the past ten years. She is mum to her beautiful daughter, Rayann, and lost her twelve-year-old son, Rayden, in 2008. Roseann holds a bachelor of arts degree in applied psychology for professional context from the University of South Africa under her married name, Roseann Moodley. She has always been active in the development of children and the disadvantaged for well over twenty- two years. This has been accomplished through her own personal endeavours and the volunteering of her time through the Hatfield Christian Church. Her children have been her inspiration and her best motivators.
