About the Book

When I am travelling through this wonderful world I always allow myself about 20 minutes at the end of every day to write up interesting pieces of information I have observed or has happened to me. I always take some stills as well as video, so the stills are included each day to make a pictorial memory when editing my documentaries on my return home. As well as a spare camera (in case) I always take a tiny Mac laptop with me and quickly design a page completely each day. When I return home I buy photo paper and print out the diary so I have a somewhat rough and ready recall of most of my trips. I always think I will get to them and edit, extend and polish up my words, but I never do, I am always onto the next project. I am totally addicted to travel and meet fascinating people every time. About the Author

Dorothy Hartnett was born in Tasmania where she began her varied, adventurous career. Her rst job was designing houses in an architects ofce as she had experience as a tiny offsider to her builder father from quite young. She ventured from modelling to veterinary nurse to private secretary and P.R. situations to several successful commercial business ventures. Later as a sole parent she travelled widely introducing her young family to other cultures in the world. (We Three Go to Sea). 1976-1980 Dorothy studied at Seven Hills College of Art and discovered sculpture. After obtaining her Arts Degree she taught Art and English in secondary private schools in Queensland for 8 years and had many solo exhibitions in painting and sculpture. Dorothy progressed from wood, stone and bronze to glass sculpture and in 1989 worked at her own commercial Art glass “Pangeza Studio” where she created unusual glassworks and large commissions.. In 1994 Dorothy’s rst book, “The Blossoms of Rose Cottage” was published, followed by “Forms Entwined, The life story of sculptors Kathleen & Leonard Shillam” in 1996. In 1999 Dorothy bought a video camera and she has been making short lms from her stories and travel documentaries ever since. A few can be viewed on her UTube site.
