About the Book

Within the Walls of Mount Pisgah I am always reminded that love is not love until you give it away. So I decided to show my love by writing this book that all members can get and read. This is done through the entire history with words and pictures. This will let all know that I have come this way and that my life was not in vain.


About the Author

Rev. Dr. Virginia Franklin Davis was born in Marion, South Carolina, to the late Lotto Franklin and Lizzie McDonald Franklin. Reverend Davis is the third of eight children. She received her high school education from Marion County Training School; a bachelor’s degree from Allen University, Columbia, South Carolina; a master’s degree in theology with emphasis on Christian education; and a doctorate in Christian education from Cathedral Bible College of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She also attended South Carolina State University of Columbia, South Carolina, and Francis Marion College of Florence, South Carolina. The South Carolina State Department of Education certified Reverend Davis in elementary education, special education, exceptional children, and history and social studies. She is also certified by the South Carolina case managers of those suffering from chronic mental illness. Reverend Davis is licensed and ordained from Driskell Tabernacle Baptist Church, Dublin, Georgia. She has three children, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She has published three books: This Boat Is Too Small, Beside the Brook, and The Door Is Open. Reverend Davis has a radio program, which is heard on WJAY every Sunday afternoon for the last nineteen years. Reverend Davis has retired from the public school system and currently resides in Marion County, South Carolina.
