About the Book

About the Author

The author holds a Masters in Educational and Counselling Psychology from McGill University, a Bachelors of Education, and an Honours BA in History and Psychology. She has worked as a teacher in three Canadian Provinces (QC, BC, ONT) and is currently working for the Toronto District School Board as an English, ESL, Social Science teacher. Mahnaz has been involved with humanitarian causes since a young age, and is committed to spreading awareness of educational reform to adapt to the changing needs of learners. Her passion is to create motivation within youth to reach their optimal potential as she knows they are the key for a better future. Currently she resides in her hometown, Toronto Ontario, and has great joy in working as an educator for the TDSB. She is an advocate for kids, animals, and sustainable technologies. In addition she is an avid yoga instructor, mindfulness coach, athletics trainer, artist, and writer. The author was inspired by her students at John Polanyi Collegiate Institute, as her English students wrote fiction tales, which gave rise to the vision for this book. She is dedicating portions of profits to the school in funds to enhance literacy technologies for new comers. She lays this book as a tribute to Principal Aiman Flahat whom started this school, and has paved the way for inclusion and safe space protocol for all in the building.
