About the Book

Pieces of Me is a collection of poems that gives you an instant personal connection with the author. It takes you on an emotional journey of experiences we’ve all had at one time in our lives. Every poem is a personal piece of Chaquon that she has handpicked from her collection. Her emotions are tangible as she bares pieces of her soul. Her use of words and the subject matter she writes about will keep you captivated as you experience her highs and lows and her joys and sorrows. Each poem has been inspired by an experience in Chaquon’s life—experiences of love, friendship, great joys, heartbreaking loss, and life in general. This is why the title is so fitting. She is sharing pieces of herself with the world.

About the Author

Chaquon Polanco is married with four children. She was born and raised in the Bronx, NY and has been writing poetry since she was in elementary school. Poetry runs in Chaquon’s family, her mother writes poetry too. Chaquon has the unique ability to write about almost anything that inspires her, even if it’s not her own experience. Chaquon received her Undergraduate and Master’s Degrees from Hunter College. She currently works full-time at Hunter College. Chaquon has always loved to write. She has written several children’s books and is in the process of writing two novels. Her family has always been a great source of support and encouragement. Their strength and encouragement motivate her to fulfill her dreams and make new dreams everyday!
