About the Book

This book is about a young girl’s struggle with SLE, its social impact on the family, education, dreams, and visions and the role of the faith in sustaining sanity through the disease and hope through troubled times. It is a book based on personal experience – a life that has proven on many occasions not to be easy and how, in the midst of the trials, she found joy counting each day as a blessing on its own. ‘I’m not behind because I chose to smile! I see me as greater than my limitations. You can too . . . ’

About the Author

S’kay is a young South African who was born to a family of medical doctors with two siblings, a sister and a brother. At the age of thirteen, to the whole family’s bewilderment, S’kay was diagnosed with SLE for which there is no cure. She struggled through school and has been battling with the disease for seven years consistently. Her walk is not yet complete, and she constantly looks forward to each day as it comes.
