They include poems in free and blank verse, sonnets, villanelles, and name and number poems (poems that spell out names and numbers read vertically down the left side). They are about the experiences (love, death, goodness, evil, truth) and occasions (birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, holidays) of life. Some (the name poems) are portraits; others (the number poems) are about what it means to be a certain age.
