Description

The Civil War of the United States was devastation to the country, but even more of a travesty to the people of the country, leaving many a widow and orphan… Then the ensuing personal battles and wars that lingered on after the war, were even worse… Causing neighbors and even families to feud amongst themselves… All over personal opinions… What once might have been a friendly neighbor, but who lived on the other side of a border, suddenly became your enemy… The border wars that lingered on for years after the war left a scarred country and people… Wade Tavner was one of those caught in the turmoil of right and wrong… A young man without an ounce of family left, that he knew of… His boyhood home completely destroyed, a way of life gone, forced to fight and steal, found himself on a path of destruction, waking up realizing his life would be short, if he continued on with this way of life… The west was a new country within the United States, a place a man could start a new life, a life full of adventure,, a life full of risk,, but full of promise as well… There were no laws or rules in the west as of yet, only the laws that were written in the hearts of mankind,, but no one to make you follow those rules… The only possessions Wade Tavner owned could be carried on the back of his horse… From which he loaded his belongings and headed out into the darkness of night to find what life had in store for him in the open country of the west… A country that offered such a variety of landscape and scenery, from the Great Plains to the highest of peaks of the mountainous regions to the high plains and on into the desert areas… Wade Tavner had worked numerous jobs throughout the west allowing him the opportunities to see an abundance of the country… He was a loner and he liked it that way,, until he met Mary Franks, a woman who captured not only his eye,, but his heart and soul as well…
