Specialist Hart is a 20 year old black male searching his way into adulthood and the true meaning behind life. A dynamic story in itself, it brings you a step closer to learning the emotions and experiences living a military and civilian life as an African American. Specialist Hart battles conflicts with love, finances, deployment, and other related issues with life once he receives a call from his National Guard unit for a possible deployment. A January 2006 call eventually turns into a deployment and Hart’s first one. Living the unlikely life that few black males his age live, this book opens the key features of his experiences.

About the Author

Marcus Contrell Hart was born in Milwaukee, WI on March 31st, 1986. His mother was 19 years old when she gave birth to him. His father was 17. He was named by his grandmother after a dispute of rather to name him a junior after his dad, Lamonte D. Whitehead. He attended Townsend Elementary, Sarah A. Scott Middle School, and Solomon Juneau High, where he displayed his talents in arts and sports. He won the Martin Luther King, Jr. writing contest in all years in grade school, as a 6th and 8th grader, and his junior year in high school.
