Judith Cody


Author Biography

Judith Cody´s poetry has been extensively published in literary magazines. Her fearless way with poetry has captured the imagination of readers since she began writing at 8 years old. Dean of Saint Rose´s College, became interested in twelve-year-old Cody´s ability to see the world´s joy and pain through her poems, and taught the youngster at the college without payment. As a high school freshman Judith´s poem won a state wide poetry contest. Later, she was a winner in a national Atlantic Monthly poetry contest. She also composes music and her well reviewed book on a contemporary composer, "Vivian Fine: A Bio-Bibliography," was published by Greenwood Press in 2001.

The Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. has placed Judith´s lovely, lyrical poem, and her other papers, commemorating the United Nations Women´s Year, in its permanent collection.

Always reaching out to people, Cody has read many poems on FM radio and television stations. She has read her nature and science poetry at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, NASA; the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge; numerous other national and local groups.
