Mali Berger

Author Biography

Mali Berger, the author of Juniper, Magalee’s Diamonds, Áine’s Story, Steenie O’Shea, Twisted Hair and Risk! Risk Anything!, taught American Literature in Michigan and Chinese Universities before moving to Taos, New Mexico to write full time. She now lives in the McDowell Mountains of Fountain Hills, Arizona and on Grand Traverse Bay in Kewadin, Michigan. Berger often visits New York City as well as Dublin and Galway, Ireland. Thus, her fiction reflects these varied environments and experiences as it careens from magical wonder to vicious violence, the famed opposites or double traits in American Literature. In addition to writing fiction, non-fiction and stories for children, Berger also writes book reviews for periodicals, interviews people and creates their biographies, teaches writing classes, hosts local book clubs, and is on the Board for the Arizona Author’s Association. Her third Irish novel, Niamh River, is being written on location in Galway, Ireland, and will be published in 2008.
