Jack Burke and Jimmy Demaret not only created a golf club that stands today as a beacon to their community and the State of Texas, but did so with the same kind of flair and flamboyance that made them famous to an entire nation of golfers. From celebrities like Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, James Garner and Mickey Rooney, to some of the greats of every sport, including Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Willie Mays, Roger Maris, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan, and Tiger Woods….all left their footprints in Champions rich history. About the Author

Bill Pelham is a professional golfer who worked as an assistant golf professional at Champions Golf Club (from 1971 – 1976) in Houston before leaving to play the PGA Tour. His five-year Tour career involved competing in more than 100 events, including five major championships. He has written two stories for Chicken Soup for the Golfer’s Soul and Golfer’s Soul II, which honors his father and Arnold Palmer.
