Children’s minds are wonderful and creative, but their imaginations are sometimes linked to fears. Parents and teachers can help children lessen their fears with stories like this one. Note that the top section is for read aloud, and the kids can follow in the simpler section written on the page bottom, which they can eventually read along with you or on their own. In this bilingual coloring book version of Juan Fearful, there are lined pages with each page in the story so that children can either dictate a comment or tell their own version of the story while you print what they say. These language experience writings can also be read and reread with the children. You can also encourage them to write about the story using their own creative spelling. Don’t correct. Just ask them to read it back to you.

About the Author

About the Authors: Dr. Mac was born and raised in New York City and presently lives in Orange, California with his wife. He is a retired school psychologist and a Marriage Family Therapist. Dr. Anaida was born in Puerto Rico and grew up in New York City. She is a professor at Chapman University. She presently lives with her husband Dr. Mac in Orange, California. About the Artist: Marco, the illustrator and our son, is currently a costume designer in Hollywood, California. He did this artwork when he was a teen in high school.
