About the Author

My name is Kayla Lopez I was born in Houston, Tx on June 5th, 1997. Growing up, I received the foundation of my education at Barbra Jordan Elementary school from kindergarten through fifth grade. From sixth grade to eighth, I attended David Crocket Middle School. I’ve always had a passion for art and storytelling. While in George Bush High School, I joined a club named TAFE, where there was an assignment to make your own children’s storybook. I wrote the story “The Egg and Sky” but never did anything with it after. On June 5th, 2015 (yes, on my birthday) I graduated from George Bush High School and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life. A month after graduation, I studied and achieved my insurance licenses. On July 1st, 2016 I started my own insurance agency branch with Allstate. One odd day while I was cleaning and organizing, I stumbled upon the old story book I wrote. While I was reading it, I began to get inspired to publish it. The passion for art was always in me and when I finally had the funds, I invested in myself to make my dream come true. After some editing, I changed the original name of my storybook to “The King’s Egg”! I want to thank my mother Maria G. Rodriguez and father Hector D. Lopez, for always pushing me to be the best in everything I do. In the future, I pray to publish many more books so that the world can enjoy them! Thank you!
