Be Still

The residents of Alva weren't sure what to make of the two different explosions that had just occurred. The first one, a celebration of sorts, and the second, dangerous, and destructive. They couldn't help but wonder what the purpose was, and who was behind them—a mystery that may never be solved. Larry Clifton, the Police Chief of Alva, gripped the steering wheel, and sat in stony silence as he, and his deputy, Mike Owens, traveled to the burning oil refinery. It was hardly recognizable, as flames, like hungry hands, reached towards the sky, engulfing it. Turning onto the graveled lot, and looking up at the burning inferno in awe, Mike whispered, “Oh man! I hope no one was in there.”
