About the Book

This solo piano collection consists of short virtuoso piano compositions written by the twenty-first-century composer in tribute to the lasting magnificence of classical and ethnic music. The book includes virtuoso piano pieces in popular classical forms such as the minuet, the prelude, the waltz, the mazurka, or the march, as well as short virtuoso piano solos that represent impressions of ethnic music styles from around the world. These compositions are suitable for pianists of any age and are appropriate for both casual and refined audiences. They reference great works of piano literature as a source of artistic inspiration. As such, they can successfully complement any recital program.

About the Author

Born in 1988 in Ohio, Konrad Binienda represents a generation of XXI Century composers who seek to find their voice more through tonal-centric music than through avant-garde atonality. Brought up in the Polish-American musical tradition, he has been shaped by Chopin and the romantic piano repertoire. Binienda has written music for a variety of ensembles, including solo instruments, chamber, orchestra and voice. He received many accolades for his compositions. For example, he is a laureate of 2016 C. Baldassarre Composer/Performer CIM Competition for his work entitled “Mazurka” for piano, guitar, violin and contrabass. Konrad Binienda is a graduate of the renown Harvard / New England Conservatory Bachelor / Master Joint Degree Program. In 2017, he graduated with a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. In addition to composing, he is a concert pianist and teacher.
