About the Book

My exploration of the Ancestors and Descendants of the Richardson families of Ruston continues with an in-depth look at the James Aaron Cook and William Wooten Richardson family lines. Both men were early arrivals in the Lincoln Parish area and helped to solidify the town of Ruston’s existence. Wooten Richardson sold the property on which most of downtown Ruston is located to Mr. Russ. James Cook located his family in the area of Cooktown road and much of his family is now buried in the Cook family cemetery. Their stories are told through a combination of available photographs of people, tombstones and obituary columns. Also included in this book is the story of Miss Sophia Stone, (later Mrs. W H Cook jr) a famous Home Economics instructor for years in Ruston schools, about the day she and Henry Darby were kidnapped by Bonnie & Clyde. A further item of interest are newspaper accounts of the murder of our cousin Mable Lesba Boddie, with an update by cousin Jim Hinton on the outcome of the trials.
