About the Book

In response to so many questions to us from family and friends asking about our various recent trips to the UK, we thought it a good idea to put some of our thoughts down on paper in the hope it would prove useful to a wider range of hopeful tourists. Our personal perspective was that we were mature age tourists, interested in history, nice scenery and the usual touristy things, but especially also as motoring enthusiasts we wanted to visit car and aircraft museums and motoring events. We also selected interesting and old pub type hotels with good food and a master plan to be in the bar by 4.30 pm each day.

About the Author

Bruce Abrey has been a lifelong classic car and motorcycle enthusiast, who started competing half a century ago at the tender age of seventeen at his first race meeting at Silverstone, England. He has written for various motoring publications over the years, and to this day enjoys restoring and competing with his modified Austin Healey sports car, and riding his cafe racer motorcycle around the Perth hills in Western Australia. The fascination with aircraft possibly stems from his younger days in his employment at the Handley Page Aircraft Factory and later at the British Aircraft Corporation, where working in the research and development division he was privileged to hand make various experimental parts for Concorde.
