As a direct result of decades of despicable popular ambivalence, negligent institutional indifference, unconscionable corporate greed and insidious crony capitalistic governmental corruption, America’s been on an incremental negative course of self-inflicted societal strangulation that’s quickly risen to the unacceptable level of potential cultural suffocation. The Anaconda Manifesto, Common Sense for America; In Crisis, is intended as a social commentary with pervasive populist underpinnings, in the fervent hope that it will ignite within every God-fearing American a personal and particular passion to do everything in their power to help stop, resist and reverse our destructive and divisive national course. Every generation has a specific charge and that commitment is to preserve and protect America for future generations to enjoy and experience. Our patriot ancestors were forever glorious in their efforts, as were the many groups and individuals who followed in their hallowed footsteps. Within modern times, no grouping of people ever were more responsible for the tremendous development of America than our parents, the unparalleled Greatest Generation. They withstood abject adversity throughout the Great Depression and stood firmly to fight the ominous threat of international tyranny with a conviction and an inner strength that simply defied reason. In light of the country we’ve been blessed with holding and nurturing because of our forefather’s and mother’s blood, sweat and tears, are we now appropriately respecting our generational waves of determined patriotic ancestors and the formidable strength of our Founding Fathers by continuing in the grand tradition of caring for our great country in the same manner? Probably not, as the evidence seems to suggest that the current framework of our society and culture has egregiously failed in their duty to carry on the flag of hope, promise and prosperity for all who seek it. How could this be and why do Americans consistently tolerate the perverse effects of rampant institutional corruption, unconscionable corporate greed, despicable societal impoverishment, gratuitous ethical lapses, ubiquitous moral degradation, impotent economic policies, pervasive societal burdens of habitual unemployment and the utter dismantlement of the American Dream? As such, the America we live in today is a shell of its former self, seemingly perpetually resigned to being a mere figment of a once vibrant and verdant civilization. We no longer seem to possess the intestinal fortitude to overcome common obstacles, as we’d rather fight amongst and amidst ourselves through unconscionable displays of destructive acts of racism, bigotry, hate, homophobia and xenophobia. We are at once powerful, inclusive and empowering and yet simultaneously shameless, feckless, exclusive and intolerant of others and their opinions. This premise seems to go to the heart of the matter, for how can we ostensibly be great, but inherently despicable at the same time? The conceptual premise of operating such a diverse and complex society and culture appears to be so convoluted and incongruent, as to defy all logic and reason. This is why America relies upon its leaders to steer the ship of hope, opportunity and promise for all who seek it. It is our fundamental bureaucratic institutions and the people we elect to represent us who command the honor of holding and pursuing our nation’s virtue. It’s for the people to follow our leaders lead as best we can and conform as loyal citizens to the rule of law, so that we may keep our promise to future generations by delivering to them the country which we inherited. Unfortunately, that construct has been immobilized for a few decades and doesn’t seem to be making a quick and judicious comeback. Simply put, our nation’s institutional leaders have failed in their charge, but the people have allowed the dismantlement to not only occur, but to continue. At the same time, the masses have collectively conceded defeat and have absolved themselves of all societal and cultural liability by their common failure to ask the right questions and demand honest answers to their common predicament. The people have stood by and copiously allowed for the incremental demise of America by choosing not to get involved with the matters of running our country because they’ve inappropriately trusted their elected representatives to do their bidding. That momentary societal lapse has allowed our leaders to develop duplicitous plans continue raping, pillaging and plundering America for their own benefit and for the wants, needs and desires of their select constituents and wealthy benefactors. Just as an Anaconda snake slowly coils around it subject prey and strangles its life away to the point of suffocation, our institutional governmental and corporate leaders have made the Faustian bargain to metaphorically do the same. The end result of their crony capitalistic corruption and incessant greed has been to leave the masses holding the proverbial bag of despair with nary a realistic hope for sustainable survival in a manner and method that’s been customarily enjoyed by our predecessors. This is why the people are mad as hell and they’re showing their collective disgust by acting out their frustrations upon an American fabric that feels as divisive and tormented as it did during the 1960’s and perhaps at other key contentious moments in our nation’s storied history. As a result, America finds herself leaning on a precarious precipice. Do we continue on our current negative course as is, or do we rise as one and demand change? Furthermore, if the people do finally stand up and choose to fight the prevailing winds of societal and cultural negativity, how do we realistically accomplish a universal victory that trickles down to our most needy sectors? This is exactly why the Presidential election of 2016 and all those that follow are crucial for the continued success and prosperity of our nation. The people alone possess the power to take back their country if they’d consistently express the one inalienable right that yields the most power, the right to vote. In that one act of patriotic civic effort, all Americans can take charge of their own destiny and make the conscious choice not to allow America to become just another failed civilization.

About the Author
Dr. Steve Castle graduated from the University of Arizona in 1977, where he played quarterback on scholarship, pledged Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and received his Bachelors of Science in Public Administration. In 1980, he earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Western State University College of Law in San Diego and immediately went to work in the private sector, where he established himself as an innovative businessperson and entrepreneur. Eight years later, Steve experienced his greatest stroke of luck when he met and married Ellen, the enduring love of his life. Inspired by her encouragement to follow his passion, Steve acquired a secondary teaching credential at the age of thirty-four and abruptly changed vocations to become a high school Social Science Instructor and Varsity Football Coach in Southern California. After moving to Tennessee because of Ellen’s corporate job transfer, Steve enhanced his new career choice by earning a Master’s of Science degree in Educational Administration from the University of Memphis. A few years later, another family related move created an opportunity for Steve to add to his instructional experiences by becoming an Adjunct Professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Florida State College, and Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Castle is now sixty-four and honorably serving in his 30th year in public education, where he distinguishes himself as a consistently passionate educator and longtime civic advocate for the preservation of America’s fundamental founding principles. In fact, it was Steve’s sensitivity to the incremental yet perceptible demise of the American Dream along with an acute awareness of the palpable disintegration of our nation’s unique civilization that provided the impetus for writing this rationally based and thought-provoking non-fiction expose; Common Sense for America; In Crisis. As a logical result of this literary effort, Dr. Castle hopes that all freedom loving Americans who cherish their liberty will lawfully, peacefully, and proactively seek to reacquire their glorious birthright from the clutches of an institutionalized and crony-capitalistic governmental and corporate plutocracy that has long-since forgotten the wants and needs of the general electorate. On a personal note, the Castles have two children; Gracie, a Cultural Anthropology and Sociology graduate from Florida Atlantic University who lives and works in Delray Beach, Florida and Robert, an Accounting graduate from Florida State University, where he is currently seeking his Master’s degree before sitting for the CPA exam. Steve and Ellen have been happily married for over thirty years and currently reside in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, where they care for Steve’s mother and their two adorable Schnoodles, Snickers and Baby Ruth.
