About the Book

City of Sharks is a work of fiction, but one based on real events. To protect the innocent and disguise the guilty, it is written as a satire of the nonsense that goes on or could go on in the future in that strange world of politics. But it has the purpose of bringing this hidden party and often murky world to wider notice. The story’s underlying themes of city development, politics, and corruption draw on the author’s exposure to the dark side of politics and town planning. Set in the isolated city of Perth, Western Australia, the story is likely similar in city halls and legislative chambers the world over.

About the Author

Ian has worked as an academic, town planner, politician and community activist. He’s lived and worked in several cities including Perth, London, Sydney and Canberra. Ian has written academic books and published the usual plethora of articles in ’learned’ journals. But getting bored by the strictures and narrowness of such channels of communication, he has increasingly turned to the press and radio to get his ‘message’ across. This is his first work of fiction. Ian currently lives in Noosa, Queensland.
