Fractured

From the shadowy pillar, I watched as she began walking, heading down past several rows of parked cars, civilian and police alike. Deciding that it would be best to catch up before I called her rather than just yell out across the distance, I began following, knowing my longer strides would catch up to her easily. In hindsight, I realised it probably wasn't my greatest idea but in all honesty, I'd gotten so entranced in the hypnotic sway of her hips, the curves of her sexy butt making my palms itch, that I'd completely lost focus on anything else. I got too close to her, didn't call out her name - and she reacted like any woman alone should - up went her arm, her fist slamming into my face in a backwards punch followed immediately with an elbow straight into my gut, forcing my air out in a surprised grunt. By the time I got my wits about me and defended myself, she'd tried and missed stomping on my foot, my quick step backwards the only thing saving my toes. But then she twisted and turned, her booted foot kicking out towards my face in a sharp snap. I only just managed to throw my hands up to block her manoeuvre and prevent a massive smack into my jaw, calling out quickly: "Hey, hey!!" She pulled out of the kick and back onto her two feet, tossing her hair out of the way, eyes wide and shocked as she caught sight of my face. "Kellan!" "Owwww." I prodded along my left cheek carefully, tender where she'd punched her small fist so effectively. "Damn. Nice work," I said in praise of her skill even as I noticed a smear of blood on my fingertips. Glancing at her hand, I noticed the ring she wore on her index finger: a raised silver thing with many edges that must have done the damage. "Oh, my God, Kellan!! What are you doing creeping up on me like that?! You scared me half to death!" She yelled at me furiously. "I wasn't creeping," I denied, although maybe that wasn't technically the truth. She was flushed with anger, her cheeks rosy, eyes spitting green gold fire. My beast growled playfully at her, enjoying her feisty demeanour. "What was that? You kickbox?" I asked, my voice husky and surprised as her moves registered in my mind and I recognised the art. I was suddenly ravenous for a taste of her - a bite, a lick, anything..... Nothing sexier than a woman that can kick ass. My nostrils flared as her scent spiked higher and sharper with adrenalin, mouth watering and body tightening as heat rushed to my groin, sparks shooting through my bloodstream with lightening speed. Goddamn. Such temptation and distraction, all in one petite, compact and strong female. The animal inside was intrigued and highly attuned to her, "Yes," she said absentmindedly. "What are you doing here? Finn said you left. Where'd you go?" She glared at me in accusation. "Here, to get myself a beating by you, obviously." I smirked at her. She compressed her lips, not amused. "Dammit, Kellan, you're bleeding," she huffed, as if that was my fault. Then a look of panic crossed her face and she stepped closer, her small hand reaching out and grabbing the front of my jacket. Beast and I tensed up, her pulsating heartbeat thudding through my veins, synchronised with my own. "How'd you know I'd be in the carpark? You didn't speak to anyone upstairs, did you?" She sounded alarmed, her beautiful eyes wide and anxious. "No." "Did anyone see you?" "And if they did?" I knew no one could have seen me, thanks to my extra abilities but why was she so frantic about it? "You don't understand. You......" Whatever she'd been about to say was abruptly cut off as we both heard noises coming from the ramp area. Footsteps and low conversation about a baseball game, two males. Nothing to worry about but Charlotte still tossed a concerned look over my shoulder towards the sounds. With a quick frown she said "Come on," and turned to run towards the next row of parked vehicles. With no thought other than to see what the hell happens next, I followed her, jogging alongside as she headed towards a sweet gun metal grey Chevy Camaro, late model SS, unlocking the doors on the fly with the remote she pulled from her pocket. She jumped into the driver's seat and I'd barely closed the door on the passenger side before she peeled out of the car spot, up the ramp and into the street, screeching the tyres only a little. Oooookay.......
