My brother likes to do things the same way every day. Mummy says it’s called a routine. He likes to have breakfast as soon as he wakes up, and then he watches television. Then he cleans his teeth and gets dressed. One day, Mummy tried to clean his teeth before he watched television, but it made him really sad and angry. When he gets really sad and angry, he cries and cries for ages. It’s hard for him to stop. It’s called a meltdown, and Mummy said that sometimes people with autism have meltdowns when things are too much for them.

Bernadette’s son was diagnosed with autism. The journey she has been on raising him has inspired her to write this educational and heart-warming book. About the Author
Bernadette Swindells is a childcare professional with a young family. After her son showed signs of not reaching his childhood milestones, she began to research the possibilities of him having a disability. She has been an advocate in his life to get the earliest intervention possible and to give him the most rewarding and happiest life she can, no matter what challenges she faces. She is passionate about creating an understanding of all disabilities from a young age, and she is writing a collection of books to help educate school-age children and their families.
