The Bedroom Frogs “There are green tree frogs living in my bedroom” said Granny one afternoon to Tanika and Jeremy while they were having afternoon tea. “Tree frogs don’t live in bedrooms” said Tanika. “How many?” asked Jeremy who always believed what his Granny told him. “Two” said Granny. “I’ll show them to you when you have finished your scones.” They ate up their scones very quickly. “Come on Granny” they said, and each holding one of Granny’s hands they rushed her along to her bedroom. “Look up into the corners” said Granny. They looked up and there in a corner, right up where the walls met the ceiling, was a shiny green tree frog with its legs neatly folded underneath it and its eyes closed, fast asleep. In another corner was a second tree frog.

About the Book
I wanted to write stories to which small children could relate—stories about ordinary children. All but one of the stories is based on actual events in the lives of some of my children and grandchildren. Ben’s No-Jeans Birthday Party is based on my own recollections of growing up with food rationing and simple homemade party entertainments. The Patchwork Pig is the only one involving magic and an element of “don’t try this at home.”
