Here is part of a story related by Major John Bloor, a practising Anglican, whom Lachlan knew in his Army days. They still stay in contact. At the time Lachlan had no thought of writing a book, but after he commenced, he remembered the story Major Bloor had recounted, and contacted him again. Here is part of the story: "When he was a young soldier he (John) was posted to the Army Survey Regiment at 'Fortuna' in Bendigo, the great old mansion that had been built originally by George Lansell, the man who discovered gold there in the 19th century. John was on an early morning shift... As he crossed the road, something caught his eye... What he saw transfixed him.... Suddenly the young soldier realized what at first sight his senses had failed to accept. With a shock he found himself looking at a ghost... The apparition continued to move outside the kitchen door, as if looking for something. It was about six feet tall, but the face itself was not clear ... more like a dark shadow.,, As it moved, John noted that he could see the brickwork of the building through it...'. 'Fortuna was well-known as a haunted house among soldiers who'd been posted there, and another soldier had reported the same apparition that John had seen...

About the Book
This book contains a series of chapters covering not only my own experiences of the supernatural but also the stories of many people who have suddenly and unexpectedly found themselves confronted with something beyond their life experience. Only the stories I believe to be true are included here, and most are told by people I know. About the Author
Lachlan Ness has written seven books; four books for adults and three children's books. He holds the degree of Master of Theology from the University of Newcastle, NSW Australia, and has been an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church for the best part of fifty years. He was awarded the OAM by his country - the Medal of the Order of Australia. He spent many years as a military chaplain and also police chaplain, (where heard many strange stories) as well as a parish minister. His wide range of experience, much of it rarely encountered by most parish clergy, and his ability to communicate on a personal level with people from all walks of life, have resulted in this amazing book. Lachlan has a heightened sense of the strange and mysterious, which, he says, adds to his own personal faith. He had his first supernatural experience at the age of eight, which is included in this book. He is married to Janet, and they have five children, one adoring border collie and one bossy Tonkinese cat. Lachlan and Janet live on the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie, NSW Australia.
