A wedding can be both exciting and scary, creating questions for a child. Patricia L. McIntosh remembers a wedding from her childhood where she lined up with the eligible ladies, hoping to catch the bouquet. Imagine the excitement she felt when the bundle of flowers landed in her hands. That joy quickly turned to fear when people teased that she would be the next to marry. Young Pattie took her prize and retreated to her parents’ car where she crouched in the back seat to hide—safe from being forced into early matrimony. Her mother had to retrieve her and explain that it was only a joke. What’s at the Wedding? should relieve some anxiety, give parents an opportunity to talk over the big day, and help your child have a better understanding of what to expect at upcoming nuptials, leaving only excitement and a happily ever after for all.

About the Author

As a young child Patricia L. McIntosh spent a summer with her aunt, an elementary teacher and artist. The visit was to improve her reading skills and prepare her for educational success. Although she didn’t return home an avid reader, her interest in the world of art had bloomed. Pat is best known as a farmer’s wife, business woman and florist. It wasn’t until she was a grandmother that she considered becoming a children’s author and illustrator. When her granddaughters would come to visit, they would spend hours coloring while Grandma Pat drew farm animals. During her grandson’s visits to Grandma’s house, he loved to read every single children’s book he could find. However, the drawing tablet had no words, so it was time to change that. Inspired by her grandchildren, Pat wrote her first book. She writes “what” books that are considered both entertaining and educational.
