About the Author

J. R. Orr is a Hawaiian Islander who, grew up in Waikiki on the island of Oahu in Honolulu, Hawaii. She has dedicated her career to teaching and the art of storytelling. Now a permanent resident of the west coast, J. R. Orr spent the bulk of her time away from the islands living in the Pacific Northwest between Oregon and Washington. Her stories exemplify the positive and vibrant culture found in the northwest, especially in Portland, Oregon where the motto is proudly hailed: "Keeping Portland Weird." Presently, J. R. Orr resides in the west coast, between Las Vegas, NV and Los Angeles, CA. She is an empty-nester, finding new channels to create in her stories, incorporating universal adages for values clarification and cultural enrichment for children of all ages and ethnic backgrounds.
