About the Book

In this day and age, people are hungry for true-life stories of survival and struggle, triumph and failure. Sacred Wounds takes the reader a step further by parting the veil between the worlds of spirit and matter, giving its audience a chance to experience other dimensions of reality rarely available to us as it explores the celestial dimensions of spiritual love. The focal point of the book is the love affair with a spirit named Grandfather who guides the author through the transpersonal healing dimensions.

Interlacing magical, paranormal events with psychological theory and spiritual understanding as the drama of childhood abuse unfolds, this story carries the reader into the belly of the beast for a roller coaster ride into the horrors of childhood pain and trauma and straight through the gates of magic and mystery. The author calls upon her understanding of the first noble truth of Buddhism as she describes the transformation of pain into a bountiful libation of healing.

In 1991 the author was called to abandon the life she was leading in service of her own healing. Fearing for her sanity, she made the plunge to jump back into the terrifying dark chasm of repressed and forgotten memories of sexual abuse. Diving ever deeper into the dark realms of the unknown, she found herself on the journey of a lifetime. Unable to sleep for days at a time, her body wracked by chronic pain, she sought psychological help. Meditating daily, sometimes four hours at a time, she began to encounter some frightening and compelling images. With the encouragement of her therapist, she began to diligently record these visions which revealed much information (later corroborated) about her early childhood. Feeling utterly forsaken, she was joined by a celestial figure of light named Grandfather who became a boundless source of love and compassion. He also challenged her to the limits of what she thought she could bear. During the next three years, this spirit would urge her in countless different ways to surrender control of her life to a higher spiritual authority. With his encouragement, she fulfilled her childhood dream of a pilgrimage to western Tibet in 1994, where she spent four weeks trekking at altitudes reaching 18,000 feet along perilous mountain ridges.

Sacred Wounds chronicles the author’s relentless quest for self understanding and provides a blueprint for other seekers who are looking for spiritual enlightenment while grappling with painful life experiences. Written in easy to understand language, the book explains how various spiritual and psychological practices were brought together in an alchemical blend to produce a potion of timeless healing. Weaving its way through a number of healing practices such as psychotherapy, Radix Bodywork, shamanism, Buddhism, Jungian thought and dream work, the reader is given a clear map for psychological and spiritual change. The book is unusual in the way it brings together these healing practices as it addresses the benefits of a direct and unmediated relationship with the Divine, especially as it relates to those people suffering from childhood trauma. Treading a parallel path within the metaphysical realm, a spirit named Grandfather guides the author through a series of adventures, shamanic soul retrievals, and magical revelations. Because this is a personal story of transformation, it should offer hope and inspiration to others.
