About the Book

Nicholas Steiner is a German born photographer who without benefit of instruction began taking black and white pictures at age 15 in post WW II Europe. These photos--including some from that first summer, were taken during travels throughout the continent in the ensuing decade.

About the Author

The author is a Board Certified internist who practiced in New York City until 1984 when illness necessitated early retirement. An earlier memoir “UNFORESEEN CONSEQUENCES: A Physician’s Personal Triumph over Advanced Melanoma” (Xlibris) relates how cancer affected his professional and personal lives, and the key role played by Traditional Chinese Medicine (herbs) in his “miraculous” recovery. In between writing these memoirs Steiner compiled a narrative based on his (German) grandparents and parents’ lives before, during and after WW II. An avid photographer since age 15, he has published many books of his pictures.
