About the Book

Book Summary Dreams, Imagination, & Destiny, A Poetic Journey, is a far-reaching anthology of poetic thought. Lisa Moreno takes her readers on an odyssey through many poetic paradigms. Her first section, Thought Provoking, takes the reader through poetic waters that challenges the reader to think about the world of fantastic possibilities. From Mental Highway to Undisclosed Invasion, you will be held in deep thought and suspense. Her second section, Beyond Space and Time, is simply that. You’ll be in a time machine going back to the beginning or continuum of eternity through poetic doorways. You’ll go into the farthest reaches of space where time is of no consequence. Timing’s Will and Eternity’s Door are poems that will ask the reader to stop and ponder concepts generally perceived as beyond scope. What’s a book of poetry without a little Humor & Farce? There’s a laugh tucked away in each of the poems presented in this section. I’m Still a Size 6 and Smooth and Shiny are two poems that many people can relate to. These poems are intended to have us all laugh at our own distortions and illusions. Primal Instinct is a section that moves the reader into the jungle of sensual cravings. Humanity has animalistic elements to its makeup and enjoys natural hungers. You’ll move through the corridors of temptation, lust, and bodily greed. Naked Thirst and Rapture are two poems that will parch the mouth. The next section, Inner Knowing, sweeps you into a vortex of your primordial self and ushers visions of angels and shadows. Proud Tree of Life, Journey and Dancing Angels are just a few of the poems that are food for thought in this section. The Spirit Within, mixes inner convictions and the spirit world. The Source of Life, Your Wish Come True, and Tired of it All play to the inner spirit. Last, but not least, is the section entitled Dissolving Walls. Poignant poetry dealing with racism, bigotry, and poverty are dealt with here. “We, way too often, ignore the lost, downtrodden, homeless people walking our streets.” “Inner city gangs have members barely old enough to know any better brandishing dangerous weapons.” As well, wars have defined history as being waged primarily over religious conflicts.” 1939, Colorblind, Murder in the Street, and Life on Skid Row are some of the wrenching and moving poems in this section. It is the author’s attempt to assuage the hatred, anger, and ignorance that divides people. “Dissolving Walls needs to be understood else civilization, as we know it, will just be another chapter in the book of humanity.”

About the Author

Author Biography Lisa Moreno and her husband, Richard, live in Southern California with their four-legged family; three poodles, and one cat. She has written over 3,500 poems to date. She started writing poetry in 2001, and hasn’t stopped writing since. Born with a gift for words, she decided after being recognized, published, and honored for her sensitive poetry, she would put together her first anthology. The Human Condition, Poetic Insights, was her first work of poetry which specifically deals with emotions that humanity feels. Sensitive issues that people tend to repress, hold within, and internalize, Lisa brings to surface in a safe, comfortable manner. Still having a large breadth of poetry that crosses many other frontiers, Lisa decided to combine many of her other poems in a larger text called Dreams, Imagination & Destiny, A Poetic Journey. In this book, Lisa shows her readers a larger range of her poetic visions. Lisa writes purely in character. She says writing poetry comes naturally to her, and doesn’t require a lot of work or pre-thought. Her imagination becomes her best tool in writing. She says it flows like a waterfall. Her wish is to help people through her poignant poetry. In this way, she feels she is giving back. “Words impact us so very much, what better way to help people find their own way.” Her attitude on life is to appreciate each and every moment we live no matter what our circumstances. “People get so caught up in their own lives; they tend to ignore just how amazing this gift of life truly is! How many generations back do most people have any knowledge regarding their own heritage? Just imagine how many couples found their way through hundreds of years to give chance for each one of us to have been born? It goes way beyond our parents.” Lisa entices her readers to wander through their own imagination and freedom of thought to ponder universal questions and challenge new frontiers. Lisa has been a graduate gemologist for over twenty five years. She has lectured at many colleges and universities throughout the state of California for more than fifteen years. She has been a guest lecturer at the Museum of National History in San Diego, and has appeared on television as an expert in gemstones on cable television for over a year. She has also been a guest lecturer for Rotary Clubs of Southern California. Lisa has been very involved with charity. She’s been a member of the League for Crippled Children, which supports Orthopedic Hospital in Los Angeles. She has had her own research and development business that dealt with disposable products used in the emergency room. She was also involved with food and wine with regard to importing and distribution. A lover of animals, Lisa and her husband, Rick, have rescued several dogs and cats through time. “We made a pledge that before we would ever buy a dog or cat, we would rescue first.” Poodles are so intelligent; we decided to name our first rescue, Einstein, a three-month old black standard poodle. The story goes on. We found ourselves in the dog world and thanks to Madeline and Brad Patterson, we ended up with two more poodles, and discovered the movie “Best In Show” really had a lot of truth to it. Napoleon, our white standard poodle, finished his championship and is quite happy to just be a dog again. Tiffany Ann, our blank miniature poodle, runs the house. Animals are very healing. Wonderful programs are in place allowing therapy dogs to access hospitals and give highly needed nurturing to patients and hospital staff. The elderly benefit greatly from the attention they receive at convalescent homes from these loving animals. We highly support these programs and hope they grow. All of our pets are people-oriented and are always around us. They love to listen to me reciting poetry and to Rick playing his guitar. They make a wonderful audience. I can’t imagine life without them. I feel very blessed with life, and will probably be writing about its beauty and transgressions as long as I’m able.
