About the Author

Joyce Shaughnessy lives in Midland, Texas with her husband, Dennis, a physician, and a cocker spaniel. They have two married daughters and four granddaughters. Joyce is a lover of all things Filipino and WWWII. They own a large library of books, both classic and contemporary.

"I just finished reading A HEALING PLACE and wished it hadn't of ended. The Author writes about the 1930-40's during the Dust Bowl. It was a smooth read and I couldn't stop reading it because it was so interesting. It offered a lot of coming together among people in communities, helping one another. It made me wish that this could happen in our divided world today. Even though World War II was going on and families dealt with terrible sacrifices, they showed such courage. Joyce gave a lot of history and wrote this book with a great storyline and good writing. A five star book for sure."
