About the Book

The book starts off with the birth of my grandfather, William Almy (9 generations ago) in Dunton Bassett, England in 1601 and tells about his life in those times as he looked at the "New World" (now the United States) and came over here around 1628 and lived at Lynn, Mass. In 1635, he returned with his wife, Audrey and his two children, Anne, age 8 and son Christopher, age 3 on the "Abigail" and lived in Lynn, Mass. I tell the story about how the population from England and Europe moved to the new world by the thousands and changed the real estate picture as we know it today. When I get to June 2, 1959, I tell all of my experiences that I have had selling real estate and the many OBSERVATIONS that I have seen or experienced to the present day of Jan. 5, 2011. This book is historical, educational and funny!!!

About the Author

I was born and raised in Fort Worth Texas on July 29, 1930 and after I was 6 years old, my Dad bought his first ranch about 3 miles Southwest of Texas Christian University area. I grew up on this ranch until 1948 when my Dad sold the ranch and bought another ranch about 6 miles Northeast of Granbury, Texas. I went to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas from 1948-1952 and graduated with a degree in Animal Husbandry. I spent 4 years in the U.S. Air Force mostly in Harlengen, Texas and then went to work for the First National Bank of Ft. Worth, Texas. On June 2, 1959 I received my Texas Salesman's License and worked part-time for Yager & Company. On Feb. 1, 1970 I received my Texas Broker’s License and started my own company -- Almy & Company Realtors in Hurst, Texas. In 1979, I moved my office and home to Granbury, Texas and have lived there since that time.
