About the Book

The play tells a life story of the greatest French poet of the 15th century - Francois Villon, also known as the “Voice of Paris”. The story leads us from Villon’s student years, when he used to be an assiduous scholar of Sorbonne and foster child of the senior Priest Guillaume de Villon, to the time when the poet gets involved with a bad company and is being lead into the mire of thefts, burglaries, and fi nally – unpremeditated murder. After the crime Villon is banished from Paris and he wanders in the precincts of the city fi ghting for survival, retaining his fervent mind, sharp tongue, skill of scoffi ng his enemies and ill-wishers in his poems. However, the prodigal son returns to Paris to fi nd his place in this world… Being banished for the last time, he vanishes from Paris and vanishes from History…..

About the Author

Lisa Monde - composer, actress, singer, playwright, author of fi ve musical librettos , including the musical “Francois Villon. Three days in Paris” (based on the fourth part of the play – the return of Villon to Paris from his exile), which has been produced in Moscow and performed successfully for the last three years. Medieval poetry is her hobby. Favorite poet – Francois Villon. The play I Know All Save Myself Alone is the result of long years of researching all existing sources about the poet’s life and creations. Lisa has a Ph.D. in Musical Pedagogy, works as a vocal coach and is the author of fi fty scientifi c publications, that include several patents and innovative methods. The play has been highly acknowledged by the Dramatists Guild of America and the author has become a member of the Guild.
