About the Book

This poetry book, Watching You, A Collection of Tetractys Poems, is a primary collection of 110 tetractys poems for readers of every genre hinged on the sacred elements of nature – air, water, fire, earth and sky. The poems transcend age and human diversity as they unfold in the passage of time, blending in the rhapsody of multiculturalism, while focusing an eye for you to engage in thoughts of heritage and human rights. Students of creative writing will find these poems challenging in their own endeavour to embark in an imaginative world. Each poem is a triangle of metaphysical adventure. 71 VOYAGER I visit Columbus on this voyage watching the Atlantic caressing dreams. I am gathering islands without names far,far away distances without sleep.

About the Author

Leonard Dabydeen is a Guyanese-born Canadian who hails from Canje, a small rural district in the county of Berbice, Guyana, South America. He was formerly a school teacher, Headmaster and a lecturer at the Government Teachers’ Training College, with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Guyana, before coming to Canada in 1983. He is currently a Licensed Paralegal and a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. He began creative writing of poetry as a teenager, with the same drive and impetus that others in the sugar plantation district of Rose Hall in Canje, Berbice, Guyana sustained during the hiatus of British colonial rule. He contributed poems in the Berbice Times Newspaper in the early 1960’s and won the Freedom House Poetry Prize sponsored by the People’s Progressive Party under the pen name, Leovski Donov. Here in Canada, he published his first poem, Not Wanting To Be A Refugee, in the Indo Caribbean World ethnic newspaper in 1984. Then after a span of almost two decades in creative designing of furniture and custom metal bases from a background in Industrial Arts and Business Management, he arrived at the internet with a prolific pace of poetry writing in such forums as www.helium.com, www.poemhunter.com, www.poetryfreak.com, among others, with connections in American Life in Poetry and the Indian Poetry Society on Facebook. This book collection of tetractys poems is his debut presentation for readers who have an appreciation for short poems, bordering on every genre hinged on the elements of nature—air, water, fire, earth and sky.
