In the late 1990s, a beautiful young girl Jie, the daughter of a college professor married to her father’s student Kang by accident and partial obedience. Kang was a talented and diligent researcher, and certainly the best choice for sonin- law from the professor’s view. Unfortunately their marriage was troubled from the beginning by the dramatic difference in their backgrounds and personalities. In a time of confusion and stress, Jie fell in love with Wu, a married young business man; however such love brought pain and loss to those around them. The lovers had no choice but to separate. As time passed, the youths crossed the ocean to a world of tumult and challenges, like many of others who seek new life and opportunities there. They struggled, endeavored, puzzled, lost and gained through mistakes and heartbreaks. Kang became a successful professor. Jie was eventually divorced when Kang was forced by an affair to choose between marriage and career. Wu was finally disengaged from his unhappy marriage. It seemed like the changes generously gave everyone a second chance to remake their lives. But will the love, the hate, the sorrow, and the joy be intensified or unraveled? Will the two lovers find their peace to fulfill the relationship? Years after, the economic crisis hit the foreign land. Many of the wanderers are flying back home as new attractive chances arise. Kang joined them with his new wife, holding a marvelous blueprint to build up another successful career. But is that really a great opportunity? Are the new looks of this ancient land a grand new fortune, or a face of temptation?
