About the Book

Territorial Justice is the story of,the life and times of Elias I. Haussler, a cowboy drifter, and White Feather a white girl whose parents are killed when she is a baby. She is rescued and brought up by a Chief of the Apache` Nation as a warrior. When grown she ‘marks’ her man, Elias I. Haussler, the cowboy drifter, as directed by the Spirit of the Wind. They marry and together help build a ranch and a town in the Dakota Territory.

White Feather is diabolically murdered. The Apache` Nation relentlessly demands and inevitably extracts an equal punishment for the horror that lead to White Feather’s death, from those who murdered her.

White Feather’s Indian ways, strength, love, devotion and death instill in Elias the courage and conviction he will need to become a Territorial Marshal.

After White Feather’s death, Elias becomes a United States Marshal for the eastern half of the Dakota Territory. This is a vast area without the rule of law and order.   It is for Elias and his Deputies to introduce and bring justice to the people in the growing Territory.

The story introduces the reader to many memorable characters who helped build the west, and in doing so the nation. John Chamberlain, who develops the town of Chamberlain. Men like John Kincaid, prairie scholar and Saloon keeper in Chamberlain, and the beloved Wichita Sadie, Saloon keeper in Sioux Falls. Men of the cloth like, Father Riley Mahoney, Catholic Priest and the Reverend Charles A. ‘Pockets’ Atwater of the Anglican faith.   Doctor Sam Sparks a physician with a bag of medical miracles for the desperate.

The Story introduces Katherine Fontaine Cartwright a titled English woman who aids Elias in bringing to an end a well devised, massive, multi-state, cattle rustling operation.

The novel tells from my heart and experience, of quintessential love, twisted and coiled bigotry and the indomitable spirit of the men and women who pioneered the west. Values shared by any human being are incorporated throughout the story telling, thereby enabling the reader’s minds-eye to see and hear more than the written word.

About the Author

Stuart Haussler has been writing Western and Military novels for twenty years. He brings to his novels, based on his eighty years, knowledge acquired as a Rancher, Doctor, Teacher and Naval/Marine Officer. So as to entertain, Sedition: The Mother of Treason is an intentional fabrication of the mind, based on imagination, experience, dedication, concern for and a total love of his country. Tid-bits of today's reality innoculate the story with the fibers of truth by insinuation.
