About the Book

The members of the Krankel family suffered from such imaginary sicknesses that they always appeared ill and in pain. With the Mother always coughing and the Father always shouting, the house seemed filled with noise. One day they received a letter from their Grandpa Groan, who was in the hospital with a broken funny bone. In spite of their many health problems, none had ever been to a hospital. Once they arrived at the hospital to visit Grandpa Groan, they saw all the really sick and injured people who needed care. They saw the crippled children and those with broken bones, yet none seemed to complain. As they looked around the wards, they began to realize how fortunate they really were. This experience brought a change in their outlook on life. When they returned home, all the crying and sorrow were replaced by laughter and joy.
