About the Book
Mother Somalia-Stories of Hope is a collection of fictitious stories. Each story captures tragic conditions experienced by Somali people as a result of Somalia’s civil war followed by the country’s disintegration. These stories unlock harsh situations under which Somalis had lived and suffered. All characters in the stories portray Somali people, struggling with heartbreaking situations. The settings range from Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti, India and Canada. But arising from these tragedies are ideas of hope and resiliencies.
About the Author
Mohamed Abdi-Bakayr is a Somali-Canadian writer who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication. Mother Somalia-Stories of Hope is his second book. The Agony of Somalia’s Civil War was published in 2004. As well, Mohamed is an essayist engaged in advocacy journalism.
