About the Author

Edward J. Herdrich, Licensed Private Detective Edward J. Herdrich began his career in private investigations in 1984 working for a small firm in the Northwest suburbs. Since that time he has developed a degree of specialty in Criminal Defense, Locate, Fraud, Background and Undercover investigations, as well as effectuating difficult service of process. He has been a licensed Private Detective within the State of Illinois since 1994, and a State of Illinois certified firearms instructor. He served three years with the United States Army Military Police Corps. As a member of the AWOL Apprehension Team, he distinguished himself by working with a team that established an Army-wide record for the number of AWOL and Deserter status soldiers returned to military control in a quarter. He also served as an investigator on the Drug Suppression Team, and was a member of the Special Reactions Team (civilian equivalent - S.W.A.T.). He received an Honorable Discharge. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, successfully completing a double major in Criminal Justice and English. He has continued his education through attending courses offered by Western Illinois University’s extension program. . He is the published author of several articles regarding investigations and investigative training which have appeared in P.I. Magazine, as well as an article which appeared in the Kane County Bar Briefs. He has trained numerous individuals in various investigative areas, as well as training preparatory to the Private Detective licensing exam. He currently provides a course of instruction for entry level investigators at Elgin Community College, William Rainey Harper College, and McHenry County College.
