About the Author

Joan is the mother of two adult sons and a retired Human Services worker. She teaches yoga and enjoys walking her dogs, gardening, and spending time in nature. Joan lives in beautiful rural Prince Edward Island, Canada with her partner Jim and their dogs Drako and Max.

This book is a charming exploration of Canada, as seen through the eyes of an inquisitive stowaway mouse named Cooper. As he travels across Canada hiding behind the refrigerator of a campervan, he not only looks out the window and watches the landscape change, but goes out exploring, where he meets various animals and has adventures. There are unnamed humans in the campervan and several dogs, one of whom, Drako, becomes Cooper's best friend. We see not only a mouse-sized view of our great country, Canada, but also follow the heart warming development of a friendship between a large golden retriever and a small field mouse. As you finish each chapter there is this sense of well being and pleasure. I highly recommend this book for children ages 4-7 as well as children of all ages. You will love it, and you will love Cooper and Drako!
