Each May you drink the nectar of the clouds. You wear the blush of bathing in the sun. You tremble when your shadow’s cast by moon; You genuflect – your dance has just begun. You whirl to join the blooming spring-time crowd. You drop the pink chiffon. The change is clear, You’re green until you bloom again, next year.

GLEANINGS

Gleanings is a collection of verse written between 1925 and 2002. George Sharp, the author, has put pen to paper to create poems, plays, a novel, and a quasi-biography of his grandfather. The Bing and Grondahl plate poems appeared in the Christmas edition of IDEALS, 1974.

About the Author

A long time resident of Media, Pennsylvania, Mr. Sharp spent much of his life guiding youth as a teacher in the Chester, Pa. school district. Together with his late wife, Marjorie, he prepared plays based on Operas that were presented live on the educational radio station. George, at age 92 continues to relate to his readers tidbits of history as he remembers it that is centered in the local areas of Chester, Upland and Media, Pennsylvania. George received his Master’s degree in education through Temple University in 1950.
