About the Book

It has been my lifelong dream to write a book—not just any book but a book to encourage and inspire anyone who has been given a devastating diagnosis, that this is not the end of it all. As long as you have breath in your body, always fight to survive whatever the trial or tribulation, pain, and suffering may be. This book reveals how the word Diabetes became a intricate part of my everyday vocabulary. Becoming a Diabetic taught me how to pay attention to what was actually happening to my body. It was frightening to learn how serious this disease was and if I didn't take the steps to change my lifestyle that I would continue to experience attacks on my health. I wanted to motivate the reader to take a serious inventory of their medical history, emotional issues and life stresses and re-evaluate how to get more control over their life through a lifestyle change. May my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the healer of all diseases, bless each and every reader of this book.

About the Author

I am licensed by the state of Michigan to practice as a Clinical Social Worker. My bachelors in social work (BSW) was received from Marygrove College in Detroit, MI and I studied medial social work in a hospital setting which was my internship. My masters in social work (MSW) was received from Wayne State University also in Detroit, MI. with both degrees I developed skills that assisted me as I learned patient advocacy, family counseling, psycho-therapy in hospitals on the Medical, Geriatric and Psychiatric units. After graduating, I worked in a mental health agency and on the psychiatric units/crisis center of a hospital. I have also worked in the Health department. I have had all-encompassing opportunities in all these areas which also allowed me to work with diabetic patients. I have seen all stages of the diabetic patient and now I am the patient!! !!!!
