About the Book

This comical rhyming text picture book is the sequel to Rusty Rumble and his Smelly Socks and suitable for children up to six years of age.

As a loved member of the Rumble family, Rusty joins his family for an outing to the doggy beach one day. He finds the smells on the beach very different and exciting so when he puts his head underwater in a rock pool, his cross-eyed goggled face looks horrified as a nearby crab waits to pounce on his nose. Chasing balls along the beach is fun for Rusty, however backing into a huge Labrador is a little scary at first but they soon become friends.

Even though he doesn’t like getting wet, when Rusty sees his family in danger, he dives in to protect them from a shark, bites it on the fin and sends it reeling out to sea. Rusty is proudly on his way to shore when he is dumped by a huge wave so is taken by stretcher as the crowd applaud him. His worried family take him home, feed him well and tuck him into his bed of smelly socks.

Rusty enjoyed his day at the beach but feels much safer and happier at home with his loving family around him.

About the Author

My first book “Rusty Rumble and his Smelly Socks” was so popular with children that I was compelled to write another picture book featuring this lovable little character. I think poetry serves a positive purpose in my children’s picture books. Not only does it keep a fluent motion to the story, it also helps children with word identification. So, in essence, they are learning while listening and enjoying the book. Poetry has played a large part throughout my life and I have received commendations for several of my poems from as young as primary school age to current times. I have written several other picture books featuring more lovable characters in addition to three children’s chapter books. One day, I hope to see all my books being enjoyed by children.
