About the Author

Born during the Second World War, when the effects of the Great Depression had reduced a large percentage of Australia’s population to eking out a living as best they could, a boy grows up on a dairy farm on the fringe of a small country town. With no money for store-bought toys, he makes his own amusement roaming the banks of the pristine Chinaman’s Lagoon and, like most boys, getting up to a considerable amount of mischief in the process His is a story of freedom and of a lifestyle which is unfortunately no longer available to modern children. Follow his journey through life as he helps his parents on the farm with the assistance of horse drawn implements, uses some quirky and innovative methods to earn some cash, and joins with his siblings and school mates in some harebrained adventures. A second book, “Childhood Receding”, supplied as a free bonus in this edition, follows the boy into adulthood and reveals a far from mundane life and many humorous incidences as it tracks his travels and experiences through the years.
