About the Book
Pride Must Die & Other Random Musings of the Desperate Naija Woman is a collection of ‘poetic’ blogs that touch on a varying range of life issues sure to carry you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. You will go from ‘Enough!’ which captures the frustration of a Christian who has had enough of the enemy’s controlling lies to the joyful, love-infused ‘Sometimes Words Just Won’t Do’, a birthday poem to her sister and then be confronted by God’s searchlight in “Pride Must Die!’. Bola hopes you will read these poems, ponder on the thoughts they evoke in you and then pray about them. Yes, she hopes these poems will open the door to a conversation between you and a God who loves you.
About the Author
Bola ‘The Desperate Naija Woman™’ Essien-Nelson is your everyday Nigerian working woman, wife and mom doing her best to keep all her balls in the air in the vibrant, cosmopolitan and sometimes maddening city of Lagos, Nigeria. Bola began blogging on the 14th of January 2009 and since that day; her love for writing has literally taken on a life of its own taking her on an incredible journey of pure wonder and self-discovery. ‘Writing makes me smile on the inside. When I write, my world feels alright, even when it’s not’, she says. Bola has always been clear about one thing. She is desperate to be the ‘Jesus Christ’ the world sees and through her daily, random, quirky, sometimes funny, sometimes sad and sometimes ‘mad’ musings on LIFE, she invites all who read to join her on this quest for ‘Authentic Christianity’.
