Kamal The African Warrior

The Asiman turned to face him, letting go of the dried out corpse of Jumoke. It licked its dark lips and chuckled, making bat-like sounds as it watched the intruder. This was the one who hurt it, in Kamal’s tent; yes, it remembered the whole episode like it was yesterday, yet it could smell something different in him as if the boy was somewhat superhuman. It chuckled again as it began to use its power of hypnotism on the young man, whose blood would make the ultimate desert to tonight’s mega meal. Ade watched the creature with sheer hatred. He knew that it was trying to hypnotise him with its bat-like eyes, yet it wasn’t working. He slowly placed the lamp down and then drew the other sword. He felt an intense energy flow through him as the swords began to glow. He looked at the creature again; the stupid smile had gone from its hideous face. Maybe it had just realised that its power wasn’t having any effect on him. It was his turn to smile. He charged. The creature was fast, faster than anything he had seen. But he matched it in speed and pace, blocking its long skeletal claws with his sword and then returning a slashing blow of his own. The Asiman extended its hands; a silvery light shot out from them and headed straight towards Ade, who easily blocked the shot with his swords, and the bolt of energy bounced back towards the Asiman, hitting it in its chest. It screeched in pain and then transformed itself into a ball of orange light and went through the thick wall of the hut. Ade stared at the big hole created by the creature. He could see other huts through it; some were still on fire, while most had little swirls of smoke emanating from various angles as more people began helping their neighbours to douse the flames with water. Then he remembered Jumoke. He turned back and stared at the far end of the room where the body of the young girl lay. He slowly walked forwards until he was right next to it; then he knelt down and began to cry.
