About the Book

Giles looks out over the ocean and wonders what awaits him in the new world. They have left behind all that is familiar to them in England. After several false starts to their journey, the Pilgrims are at last on their way. Giles dreams of being a hero and helping the colony grow and prosper. But first, they must survive the violent Atlantic storms.

Set in one of history's most fascinating time periods, GILES JOURNEY : THE STORY OF LIFE IN PLIMOTH COLONY tells the story of a thirteen year old boy who is about to go on the journey of a life time. Giles and his family are to board the Mayflower and sail across the Atlantic Ocean. At the end of the journey lies an unknown land. They will be settling in an area of America where no one has settled before. They will be alone and cut off from England.

As Giles tries to put these troubling thoughts out of his mind, he begins to dream of a new life full of possibilities.  Join Giles and his family as they establish themselves in the new world. Follow their adventures through their first year in Plimoth Colony.

About the Author

Nancy J. Keane has been a lover of children’s literature all her life. She works as a school library media specialist in a middle school in Concord, New Hampshire. She also maintains an award winning web site about children’s literature She is also host to a radio show that highlights children’s’ literature from the child’s point of view.
